Unspeakable Truths

I want to share with you Glenn Loury’s “Unspeakable Truths about Racial Inequality in America” at Quillette. I both agreed with it wholeheartedly and found it unutterably sad. Let me share a few brief snippets.

My responsibilities as a black man, as an American, and as an intellectual are not in conflict.

and

Where is the self-respecting black intellectual to take his stand? Must he simply act as a mouthpiece for movement propaganda aiming to counteract “white supremacy”?

and

“Structural racism” isn’t an explanation, it’s an empty category.

That is the view that I have enunciated here. If it’s not an “empty category”, it’s worse. It’s either a powerful argument for strict segregation of the races or an argument for minority rule.

Confronted by someone who is constantly bludgeoning me about the evils of colonialism, urging me to tear down the statues of “dead white men,” insisting that I apologize for what my white forebears did to the “peoples of color” in years past, demanding that I settle my historical indebtedness via reparations, and so forth—I well might begin to ask myself, were I one of these “white oppressors,” on exactly what foundations does human civilization in the 21st century stand? I might begin to enumerate the great works of philosophy, mathematics, and science that ushered in the “Age of Enlightenment,” that allowed modern medicine to exist, that gave rise to the core of human knowledge about the origins of the species or of the universe. I might begin to tick-off the great artistic achievements of European culture, the architectural innovations, the paintings, the symphonies, etc. And then, were I in a particularly agitated mood, I might even ask these “people of color,” who think that they can simply bully me into a state of guilt-ridden self-loathing, where is “their” civilization?

and

If we blacks want to walk with dignity—if we want to be truly equal—then we must realize that white people cannot give us equality. We actually have to actually earn equal status.

Read the whole thing.

Lee Kwan Yew: “In multiracial societies, you don’t vote in accordance with your economic interests and social interests, you vote in accordance with race and religion.”

The only way to keep the peace in a multicultural, multiethnic state is through some sort of dictatorship. There are no examples to the contrary in history. America could be a democracy when Whites were an overwhelming majority, 85% or more, and minorities could be ignored. Politics was internal White politics. Once Whites become just another, albeit largest, minority, democracy will go away. We will still have elections a la Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union, but they won’t matter.

If you want to see our future, listen to Dr. Aruna Khilanani, in a speech given at Yale:

“This is the cost of talking to white people at all. The cost of your own life, as they suck you dry. There are no good apples out there. White people make my blood boil.”

“I had fantasies of unloading a revolver into the head of any white person that got in my way, burying their body, and wiping my bloody hands as I walked away relatively guiltless with a bounce in my step. Like I did the world a fucking favor.”

“White people are out of their minds and they have been for a long time.”

“We are now in a psychological predicament, because white people feel that we are bullying them when we bring up race. They feel that we should be thanking them for all that they have done for us. They are confused, and so are we. We keep forgetting that directly talking about race is a waste of our breath. We are asking a demented, violent predator who thinks that they are a saint or a superhero, to accept responsibility. It ain’t gonna happen. They have five holes in their brain. It’s like banging your head against a brick wall. It’s just like sort of not a good idea.”

“We need to remember that directly talking about race to white people is useless, because they are at the wrong level of conversation. Addressing racism assumes that white people can see and process what we are talking about. They can’t. That’s why they sound demented. They don’t even know they have a mask on. White people think it’s their actual face. We need to get to know the mask.”

Quotes from a speech given at a conference sponsored by Yale by a trained psychiatrist/psychologist. But actually a violent psychopath.

If we do not get a dictatorship we will get a bloody race war.

    Please indulge another comment.

I will be 78 years old next month. I was in high school in the late 50’s and college in the early 60’s. I remember the early civil rights movement, the Freedom Rides, Dr. King, the Greensboro sit in, Selma march… Our parish had a charismatic priest, Fr. O’Brien, who went on the Freedom Rides and marched at Selma. He gave the most extraordinary sermons I have ever heard.

For a young man, actually a boy, that was a period of hope, a time when America would realize its promise. But now everything has soured and curdled. Our universities teach race hatred and vengeance. We have a whole political party committed to racial vengeance. Black activists march through Tulsa urging that Whites be murdered.

The Biden administration, itself a collection of actual lunatics, either encourages this stuff or treats it with benign neglect.

DSJ, what is happening to this country?

  • Black activists march through Tulsa urging that Whites be murdered.

The tragedy of it is that we’ve been having a Tulsa Race Riots every couple of months here in Chicago, perpetrated by blacks on other blacks, and it receives very little national media attention. They’re focused on things that happened in the distant past or that are small potatoes by comparison.

    “blacks on other blacks”

That would be blaming the victim, in today’s interpretation.
As the author suggested, what if whites become concerned about Black on white crime, and vote accordingly?
