Summary and Synthesis of Nuclear Weapons Policy Statements

Chery Rofer of WhirledView has posted a summary and synthesis of the posts on nuclear weapons policy that have been posted in the discussion we’ve been having on the subject over the last couple of weeks. There’s only one particular that I would disagree with in her summary: I don’t think that the sweet spot in our nuclear arsenal is in the hundreds but in the thousands.

I also have a minor difference in emphasis. Rather than advocating solely diplomacy and incentives as levers in reducing proliferation I think we need to move to make acquiring nuclear weapons less practical from an economic standpoint as a means of furthering a nation’s foreign policy objectives. But overall it’s a solid summary and the discussion has been a good one. I’d have liked to have seen a little more cross-blog give and take but you can’t have everything.
