Someone Will Be Elected

If the results of a recent CNN/ORC poll are any gauge Hillary Clinton’s numbers are going the wrong way. For example:

CNN-ORC 20160621-1

I had not been aware that a third of registered voters were working for the Clinton campaign. But here’s the most telling:

CNN-ORC 20160621-2

That’s outside the margin of error. Look at what’s happening. Hillary Clinton’s support is declining but Donald Trump is not picking up support. “Other” and “Neither” are the beneficiaries of HRC’s declining support.

However, there are no regional candidates. All are national candidates. That means that, as has been the case for the last 40 years, “Other” is unlikely to win any states and however unpopular they are either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump will be elected by a president albeit by what will probably be the weakest plurality of the smallest turnout of any presidential election of my memory.

Take that, Legitimacy.

That assumes that Donald Trump will be the Republican candidate for president. This cycle is so outrageous I wouldn’t assume anything at this point.

Oh, and the only presidential candidate with a more than 50% approval rating among registered voters? That would be Bernie Sanders with 59% of registered voters approving of him.

Either way it goes, not a bad time to start stocking up on rice, beans, etc while watching every one play the press

About those favorability numbers. Clinton’s been around for more than 20 years and the long term trend is down, down, down. Trump has been around for a year and has gotten the full Sarah Palin. When it gets to the general Trump will not be compared to all the other guys. He’s running against Hillary. Care to place your bets on that one?
