I’ve just published a foreign policy-related post at Outside the Beltway:
Mitt Romney’s frequently repeated criticism of China as a currency manipulator is misdirected. Our problem is with currency manipulation and, in particular, the illegal holding of large quantities of U. S. currency and Treasuries as a matter of policy by any country, not just by China. Putting the emphasis on currency manipulation rather than on China would be both more fair and more effective.
I think the “pick on China” is simple…China is an easy and well known target. Complaining about Brazil will make many in the audience go…Brazil?!!?!? WTF?!!?!? What about China!??!?!
The comments there at OTB are rather disappointing.
Steve V, how are the comments disappointing? (I almost never read comments over there.)
Most focused on the political portion of it. Michael Reynolds was posting about how the Republicans have to have a Big Bad Evil(TM) or else they can strut around acting macho kind of nonsense (never mind that China is an obvious Whipping boy for both Dems and Repubs).
This one by DC Loser,
Basically, I see the comment section at OTB as being a huge left wing echo chamber for the most part. Rather odd given that OTB is if anything a Center/Right blog.
The guy just like having the title, perks, and most important, the power of the Presidency. The actual doing of the job is just a mere detail.
Are you sure he was talking about Romney? ;/
Projection in politics is a pretty well established phenomenon.
I’ve got serious problems with Romney, but I do think that he likely will work his ass off if he gets the job. (Health permitting, of course.)
@Icepick, the dude does seem to have lost some of his vibrancy during the last year.
PD, do you mean Romney?
Yeah, Romney has appeared extremely youthful for his age (and I think his actual age surprises a lot of people), but sometime in the last few months or so, I find myself seeing more signs of his actual age. Perhaps his hidden portrait has been discovered.
