Bloggers who are deserving

I guess I’m late to this party but LaShawn Barber started up another of the overrated/underrated blogger threads and I’d like to put in my two cents. In keeping with my resolution today to celebrate the good I’d like to mention two blogs who have high traffic and deserve it: Instapundit and Dean’s World.

I know it’s popular to consider Glenn’s blog overrated but I disagree. In my opinion Glenn is the James Brown of the blogosphere: he’s the hardest working man. Instapundit is the best aggregator blog. By and large Glenn pushes you to the most important stories and high quality bloggers. Perfect? No. But the volume and consistency is amazing.

As I’ve mentioned before, I think that Dean Esmay is, pound for pound, the best blogger going. Sometimes Dean stirs the post, sometimes Dean cheers. Sometimes he reflects, sometimes he makes you question what you think. Sometimes he’s deadly serious, sometimes he’s just silly. And he’s always decent and honest and interesting. By the way, Dean’s World is celebrating its third anniversary.

There are some other blogs that I think are deserving of an attaboy. Publius Pundit has been doing yeoman’s service in covering stories that really matter lately. American Future’s work as a mainstream media foreign policy aggregator is probably the best there is. Blogfather Joe Katzman’s Winds of Change continues to have the most reasoned, temperate discourse in the blogosphere. And, of course, Joe Gandelman’s The Moderate Voice is without question the best blog that isn’t in the Top 20.
