Who’s Winning?

Well, the House Democrats seem to have rested their case in the impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump. There seem to be too different movies being played in different people’s minds. In one of the movies the House Democrats have definitively made their case for removing Trump and that even if the Senate Republicans were to acquit Trump for purely partisan reasons it will all work to their advantage in the 2020 elections. In the other movie the House Democrats have been conducting an auto-da-fé against Trump since June 2016 for purely partisan reasons of which the impeachment inquiry is only the most recent chapter.

Earlier I characterized the president’s phone conversation with Ukrainian President Zelensky as “unseemly”. Recently, I heard it called “contemptible”. That works, too. The question before the Senate will be if something that is contemptible is also impeachable in any sense other than that of Gerald Ford’s remark that “impeachable” means anything the House says it does.

The RCP Average shows that 47.8% of Americans support impeachment while 45.8% oppose. Both sides think they’re winning. Can they both be right?

I cannot imagine the Senate removing any president with a 44% overall approval rating and 75% approval rating among Republicans. It would be electoral suicide which I presume is a factor in the Democrats’ calculus.

Reminds me of the Republicans impeaching Clinton when his job approval was at a positive 73%. Not the brightest move to try and impeach over lying about sex.

I think the mistake of the Democrats is assuming that having proved that Trump really did hold up arms sales so that Ukraine would announce an investigation would result in Republicans deserting Trump. It is a cult of personality. As such they don’t really adhere to principles or ethics other than keeping Trump in power.

Schiff has let his emotion overtake his sense. He hates Trump so badly he can’t shut up about it and think. The Senate trial will happen during the Democratic primaries. How is it he thinks that hurts Trump?
Someone on the Democratic ballot has to grow in stature to win in the general, but with a lifeless impeachment trial sucking all the wind out of the news cycle, voters still will barely know who’s on the ballot.

The removal of Trump from the Presidency would be actual suicide. No one who voted to remove him would live to see the 2020 election.

This is mildly interesting. But hardly the main event. It simply reiterates another in many Biden corruption events. But no one is asking the question “why?” Why in the hell is Burisma so interested in Hunter they pay him exorbitantly for nothing? Joe, of course. But why? Two months ago I noted here that The Biden Payoffs are a side show. Its a diversion. It was a message.

Here’s a hint: what if you wanted Zlochevsky investigated. Hell, convicted……….and silenced. And not Kolomoysky. What would you do? You would send a message. And qui bono?

This is supposedly an analysis blog………….

  • Who do you think will investigate Biden? The House? The FBI? The CIA? That first Hillary Clinton and then Joe Biden are engaged in major league influence peddling is obvious. Nothing will be done about it but it’s obvious.
