Whole Hall of Mirrors

There’s a very interesting interview with Seymour Hersh at the Columbia Journalism Review. It’s pretty wide-ranging so I think there’s something in it that should make just about anybody uncomfortable.

I think that Mr. Hersh is very conscientious and determined but my own lack of comfort with what he writes is that I think he relies far too much on unnamed sources which means they’re unverifiable. It isn’t too hard to find a guy with a grievance in a bar in Washington. What’s harder is determining whether the guy is telling you the truth. That and that, at least to my ear, he gives the impression of being as squirrelly as the dickens.

But it makes for entertaining reading.

Dick Nixon slapping Pat around when he or she got drunk isn’t my idea of “entertaining.” It damned near makes me puke.
