Where Do People Get These Ideas?

Maybe it’s because I’m from a border state. I learned a lot about racism and the Civil War in school—I grew up within walking distance of Civil War battlefields. Maybe it’s because of my family. My family was anti-slavery—my great–great-grandfather Wagner fought in the Civil War from its start to its end. He had met Lincoln when Lincoln was campaigning for Congress in his home town. In my family racism was about the worst sin you could commit. We travelled in the pre-civil rights South. I found it horrifying. My mom spent a good deal of her career teaching poor black kids to read and when my dad died he was defending a young black man pro bono.

I have also lived and worked in Germany.

Michele L. Norris writes in the Washington Post:

In today’s Germany, children learn through their teachers and textbooks that the Nazi reign was a horrible and shameful chapter in the nation’s past. Cadets training to become police officers in Berlin take 2½ years of training that includes Holocaust history and a field trip to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp.

Maybe that’s what she’s heard but I don’t believe it’s true. 2/3s of Germans don’t have formal education beyond the 10th grade other than vocational training and the sort of education she’s talking about is almost entirely in secondary and even tertiary education. She should watch Das schreckliche Mädchen (“The Nasty Girl”). That rings true to me. Many Germans think that the reports of what the Germans did during the war are lies.

German schoolchildren still routinely use anti-Semitic phrases in their schoolyard taunts much as American kids used to a couple of generations ago. “You look like a Jew”. “You walk like a Jew”. Do kids still talk like that here? I haven’t heard that sort of thing in decades other than black kids addressing each other with the “N” word. Racism and anti-Semitism are strong in Germany and France. Believe it.

If European antisemitism has no seed, no root from which it springs then all you can infer is an inherent evil deep in the very
DNA of those most miserable of men, white Europeans.
Perhaps you can say that God has fashioned the Jews to be a people apart, relieving both race’s their responsibility in their respective roles in the ages old drama.
But as long as they are a people apart, pursuing prosperity among peoples they themselves consider to be others, working class Europeans will always consider them predators among prey.
As for slurs, Caucasians no longer enjoy the easy informal company of tribe, but Blacks and Hispanics, as well as Natives do.
Children can be guarded among adults, so how they talk among themselves, I can’t know.
And lastly, Southern Blacks in the Jim Crow era must have been quite amiable, much like the down on their luck border crossers today. Easy to like.
A far cry from the armed swaggering menaces we see today.

“Racism and anti-Semitism are strong in Germany and France. Believe it.”

Of course. And bigotry and slavery has existed among and between races since recorded history. The United States has done more than any country I know of to redress it. And yet, today’s BLM, progressive, woke, Democrat pol etc movements would have you believe its a uniquely American issue. Perpetrated by Republicans no less.

These people are evil. They know better; they aren’t stupid. They don’t really give a damn about blacks, but see an opportunity to capitalize personally for political and monetary ends on a craze. And they have a supportive media structure to propagandize on their behalf. Meanwhile, those they profess to advocate for are no better off, probably far worse off, than 5, 10, 30, 50 years ago.

May they all burn in hell.

Way back, 50’s?, 60″s?, psychologists showed that merely dividing one group into two generated dislike of the other. So, in some sense, racism, an extreme form of the other, is built in to our DNA.

The amount of instinctive behavior in humans is wildly underestimated. Every character, every behavior has a genetic, inherited component. Politics runs in families, not perfectly, but well above random.

But I agree, BLM and wokeism and SJW are frauds and grotesquely immoral. BLM isn’t even a black movement. It’s run by upper class SJW whites.

My understanding is that the founding members of BLM were a small, tightly-knit group of black Marxists (or neo-Marxists). The BLM banner as it were now appears to be carried primarily by whites.

Impressed with how much you guys know about BLM. You must be going to meetings in black face. Remember to wear a hoodie, unless you are buying Skittles.

Kids around here, especially in coal country still engage in racist insults. In our local high school kids were pretty good until 2016-2017 when they decided it was cool to prove they were not politically correct by calling all of the minority groups by the insulting names appropriate to that group, including kids they thought were gay not just racial stuff (faggot). Its gotten better.

Blacks can’t just bitch and shoot their way into respectable society.
    We’re not all symps.

That makes me sad. Clearly, we still have progress to make.

    Its gotten better.

    That’s encouraging.
