When the Scales Fall From Their Eyes

I wonder how long it will take columnists like Ruth Marcus that Hillary Clinton doesn’t care about workers? Any expressed concern is merely instrumental in her getting into the Oval Office. My offhand guess is that they already know but won’t dare say anything about it until the last year of her second term.

    Haha! Hillary is anti-job because she’s anti-TPP!

if the TPP were all that goddamned good, you can be certain they wouldn’t be keeping it more secret than the nuclear codes.

When the scales begin to fall, most people will rip their eyes out.

Like most politicians, her primary concern is getting elected. I suspect that she is just about as insincere as most people running for national office, she just doesn’t do a very good job of hiding it.

  • I think there’s more to it, steve. I believe that most politicians start out with genuinely good intentions but over the years they compromise the principles they began with so frequently that eventually nothing but the urge to power remains. IMO Hillary Clinton reached that point decades ago. She has thoroughly conflated the public good with her own personal good.

I think that’s an argument for politics being a phase in a life rather than a life or something you do at the end of your career rather than as a career. As Chesterton put it, there are some things that are so important we don’t leave them to the professionals.
