We Don’t Know

I’m probably being remiss in not remarking while World War III potentially starts in the Persian Gulf. If you haven’t heard, there have been some attacks on oil tanks in the Persian Gulf. The U. S. says that Iran is responsible. Others say not. I’ve even seen some claims of a false flag operation with the objective of ginning up support for a war with Iran.

I don’t know what’s happening. There is a lot of fog of war. I don’t form opinions until I have some notion of the facts and I don’t think we do yet. Stay tuned.

Should wait. This happened in the context of Abe visiting Iran.

I don’t think anyone outside the perps know what happened. After Tonkin, Iraq’s WMD, the phony war on ISIS, I certainly don’t believe anything that comes out of Washington. Especially since Pompeo and Bolton are obviously looking for an excuse to order a bombing campaign to destroy Iran’s civilian and military infrastructure.

However, I can recommend the blog Moon of Alabama,

    https://www.moonofalabama.org/

whoever the blogger is, he posts fairly detailed and credible analyses of international events. He has proposed a rationale for why the attacks might be Iranian, after all. We will have to wait and see.

An attack on Iran would lead to closure of the Strait of Hormuz and world depression as bad as the Great Depression. We might get WW III, too.

Tankers need weapons pods hard points incorporated into their designs so that when they travel in dangerous zones, they can onload them, take the weight/speed penalty for the dangerous part, and offload the pods when they hit their next port of call afterward.

On-demand weaponry pods that can be built in days would make anti-tanker operations hazardous enough that they couldn’t be done by assets that maintain plausible deniability. Only the hard points would need to be permanent features of the tanker build.

I am fairly certain that Tanker Wars 1.0 did not lead to World War 3.0. Let me guess, it is different this time.
