Watcher’s Council Nominations

The members of the Watcher’s Council have nominated the following for consideration by the Council:

The Noisy Room – Grover Norquist – The Enemy From Within On The Right

Terresa explains why anti-tax advocate Grover Norquist is now being attacked by some for his Muslim ties.

The Right Planet – Post-Mortem: Glenn Beck vs. Grover Norquist

Brent on the same subject. Seems like a lot of guilt by association to me.

Don Surber – Norman Borlaug. He saved a billion lives

Don gives a short biography of Norman Borlaug, whose work in breeding pest- and disease-resistant crops probably has saved more lives than anyone else in human history. That he’s actually become a villain to some people is astounding to me.

GrEaT sAtAn”S gIrLfRiEnD – Forget The Nukes – Kill The Regime

Gsgf is more bloody-minded than I am but she makes a good point. The emphasis on Iran’s nuclear weapons development program (if any) is obscuring an even more important point: the Iranian regime is a truly heinous one.

JoshuapunditCornell Dean: ‘Why Yes, ISIS Is Welcome To Train Jihadis On Campus!’

If the story that Joshuapundit recounts about a Cornell dean approving of a DAESH recruiting and training camp under university auspices is correct, I can only say there’s something seriously wrong there.

Bookworm Room – Jesus would have supported RFRA

I honestly have no idea whether Jesus would have supported Indiana’s RFRA law or not. I do think that the reaction to Indiana’s law has included a lot of unwarranted hysteria.

The Razor – Red Barchetta Coming to a Road – and Sky – Near You

Scott gives his rapid fire takes on a series of stories of the day.

The Independent Sentinel – Lt Gen Flynn-‘Incredible Policy Confusion’ While There Is a ‘Complete Breakdown of Order in the Middle East’

Sara reports on an interview on Fox News Sunday with retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn that’s worth reading.

VA Right! – Is Hanover School Superintendent Wilson Allowing Porn in School Libraries? You be the Judge!

Tom reports and comments on a “Letter to the Editor” he received. The lot of today’s parents is not an easy one.

The Glittering EyeStability in Afghanistan and Other Oxymorons

Rhymes With Right – Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District Dies Not With A Bang, But A Whimper

Greg remarks on the Supreme Court’s declining to hear the case of several high school kids who were sent home for wearing American flags on their T-shirts on Cinco de Mayo.

Nice Deb – Pushing Back Against The Left’s Attack on Religious Freedom

Deb remarks on the reactions to Indiana’s RFRA law.

Well, I’ve decided which posts I’ll vote for.

The original announcement post at the Watcher’s site is here.

What the Hell would Jesus have known about a modern warm-body-franchise democracy with the design of a federated republic based on common law traditions?

And I don’t know why you’re surprised Borlaug has been deemed villainous in some quarters. If someone announces tomorrow that they’ve created a system that will remove ‘excess’ CO2 from the atmosphere, converting it back into useful hydrocarbons, using solar & wind farms, they’ll be deemed a villain too, since then society wouldn’t need to be changed into whatever the he’ll it is that they want.
