The Stages of Mourning About Trump’s Election

Shortly after Donald Trump was elected president, Scott Adams predicted that the media, Democrats, and other opponents of Trump’s would go through the following stages:

  1. Trump is a traitor.
  2. Trump is incompetent.
  3. Acceptance

I do not believe that acceptance will ever happen. At best it will be grudging acceptance. I do see some signs of an alternative stage which I would call “Well, it could be worse” emerging, particularly in WaPo editorials.

??? Never thought he was a traitor. Went straight to incompetent and haven’t seen anything to change that. he surprising part is how lazy/uninvolved he is.

  • You didn’t need to go too far afield to find accusations of treason. Just search for “Russia collusion”.

I think I’m actually pretty charitable in my assessment. I think he’s about a C+ on policy and a D- on execution.

Take the announced reforms to immigration, for example. Not a great deal different from Canada or Australia but the reaction would make you think it was the return of the Klan.

The grand jury will find, or manufacture, some sufficient misdeed so as to create the vacuum of support among R. legislators, and expectation of impeachment. Only the President’s working class supporters will still back him and he will be gone. Maybe Sessions will run in 2020.
