The Council Has Spoken!

The Watcher’s Council has announced its picks for the most outstanding posts of the preceding week. The winning Council post was Joshuapundit’s consideration of the administration’s latest round of shuttle diplomacy, “Cheny’s Chess Moves in the Middle East”. Second place honors were shared by Cheat Seeking Missiles’s post, “’Positive Thinking vs. The Greenies” and my own post, “Gone Across Peterson”.

Among the Council submissions I voted for “Positive Thinking vs. The Greenies” and Callimachus’s post (which came in third), “You Asked For It”

The winning non-Council post was Iraq the Model’s post, “’Don’t Bury Your Heads in the Sand’”. Make no mistake—withdrawing U. S. forces from Iraq before the country is a lot more stable than it is now will have consequences. Congressional Democrats know that as well as I do so, regardless of their posturing and however their supporters howl, don’t expect us to withdraw our troops anytime soon. Second place honors went to Gates of Vienna’s post, “A Communism for the 21st Century”, Fjordman’s discourse on multi-culturalism, at least as practiced in Europe. I don’t know what things are like in Scandinavia and I do think that the ethnic states of Europe have a challenge before them but I’m cautious about over-generalizing the European experience to the United States. The U. S. has been multicultural to one degree or another since before there was a United States and, despite fits and starts, we’ve managed pretty well. E pluribus unum, baby. Hot Air’s commentary on the folly of withdrawing U. S. troops to Iraqi Kurdistan got my vote (along with the ITM post that won, which I nominated).

The complete results are here.
