The Council Has Spoken!

The Watcher’s Council has announced its picks for the most outstanding posts of the preceding week. The winning Council post was Rhymes with Right’s post, “Immigration Posts By High School Students”. In this post Greg reports his discussion about the protests with his students and demonstrates why he’s a good teacher. The second place finisher was Gates of Vienna’s “Aztlan and Al-Andalus: Return to a Mythical Golden Age”.

The runaway favorite for this week’s winning non-Council post was American Digest’s post, “On the Return of History”. Gerard Van der Leun is probably the best essayist working in the blogosphere these days and this is a fine example of his work. The second place post was Wolfgang Bruno’s “Creating the Online Infidel Library”.

Gerard’s piece was outstanding. To tell you the truth, he neatly encapsulates many of my previously-held biases against my Boomer Generation. I recall being very skeptical of Time’s “Me Generation” tag back in the 70s. 9/11 wasn’t a turning point for me- that happened much earlier.
