The Watcher’s Council has announced their selections for the posts of the last week most deserving of recognition. The winning Council post was The Education Wonks’ rare departure from education issues, “Washington’s Wasteful Ways: Alaskan Pork Chops”. When you live in a state that’s a net loser in the federal money lottery as we Illinoisans do, this really hits a nerve. Actually, this is an education issue. The overwhelming preponderance of money that funds schools is state or local. The more money that Washington sucks out of the country to finance pork-barrel projects the greater the resistance to greater spending on education at the state and local level: you can’t get blood out of a stone. In second place was Gates of Vienna’s “Guess What? Anatomy Is Destiny”.
The winning non-Council post was The Dawn Patrol’s analysis of an ill-considered Planned Parenthood promotional video, “Planned Parenthood Fantasizes About Blowing Up “Anti-Choicers””. The second-place non-Council post was AlphaPatriot’s eye-opening “The Final Campaigns of WWII”.
