The Council Has Spoken!

The Watcher’s Council has announced its picks for the most outstanding posts of the preceding week. The winner in the Council post category was Done With Mirrors’s post, “Memorial Day”, for which I voted. This is really a superb post. Second place honors went to my own submission this week, “The Costs of Withdrawing from Iraq”.

The winning non-Council post was US News and World Report’s, “John McCain, Prisoner of War: A First-Person Account”. This is John McCain’s own story of his captivity in North Viet Nam. Although I definitely think it’s worth reading, I didn’t vote for it because a) it’s not a blog post; and b) it’s a re-print. Second place honors went to The Brussels Journal’s “Why Spain Lectures Other Countries on Immigration”, an interesting analysis of Spain’s immigration experience, policies, and politics.

The complete results are here.
