The Watcher’s Council has announced its picks for the most outstanding posts of the preceding week. The winning Council post was (once again) Done With Mirrors’s post, “Carrollingâ€, a fisking of an article by James Carroll. Second place honors went to Joshuapundit’s Texas Gang Rape and Murder Case Puts America’s Sovereignty In Jeopardy.
The winning non-Council post was Dumb Looks Still Free’s “The Problems and Course of Rebuilding in Iraqâ€. I nominated this excellent post, I thank the Council for this outcome, and I recommend the post to your attention. Second place honors went to ShrinkWrapped’s “MSM Bias and Pallywood: Incompetence or Malice?â€.
The complete results are here.
The Problems and Course … was must reading. He gathered informatoin from publicly available sources and illustrated the problems with Iraq’s infrastructure. In other words he reported. After reading that I had little interest in the WaPo’s Reconstruction In Iraq at a Crawl, Auditor Reports as it is likely to be more about political machinations in DC than what’s actually going on in Iraq.
I couldn’t agree with you more, soccer dad. I found that post left as a comment on another blog, located the author, and urged him to post it as a full-fledged post on his own blog.
Otherwise it would have been invisible in a comments section.
My thanks!
That is one of the standard bits of grievance I get: my comments being better than the original post. Unfortunately I don’t write much that is glib nor easy to read and most of my original posts have excerpts from the original material at length to let the reader judge if I am properly characterizing things. Most of my commentary is a link-fest due to that, and I was very tired when putting together the comment at AI… mostly I don’t bother these as I am seen as a spambot for such things.
Again, my thanks! I do not self-promote so it is mostly by my commentary that I am unknown.
