I get the distinct impression that we’ve had some slow news days lately. To my eye the big stories are:
- The district judge’s decisions on the Trump Administration’s removal of illegal immigrants.
- The incipient ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine in the area around the Black Sea.
- The Signal discussion “heard ’round the world”.
- The demonstrations in Turkey
On the first story, a district judge only has the last say if the appellate court and/or the Supreme Court say he does. We won’t know the status of that for a while.
IMO commenting on the ceasefire is premature.
I’ve been saying for some time that federal government agencies are manifestly incapable of maintaining proper digital security. That’s not new. It has obviously been the case for years. It has been tolerated under Democratic administrations and Republican administrations. What’s the solution for that?
The demonstrations against Erdogan and his government in Turkey have been going on for six days now. I have read coverage of those demonstrations from U. S. news sources, British news sources, French news sources, and German news sources. None of them have much to say that I couldn’t write right here without looking at those news sources. That suggests to me that either 1) they don’t know any more than I do; or 2) they’re not really that interested in them or maybe both. If the Erdogan government falls it could be a very big deal, indeed.
How about Jeffery Goldberg’s resent news …?
The Trump admin and Congress will just ignore the security breach. Had thought there were security questions about Signal. If those are valid it’s concerning that Trump’s real estate lawyer, I mean diplomat, was in Russia and part of the group on the Signal chat. OTOH, since Russia is now an official ally maybe it’s OK.

What do you think about century bonds?
Steve
Have we crossed the line of no return???
Egg prices down to $2.983 per dozen per USDA egg index, down from $6.1234 when Biden was last President.

Unfortunately, just got back from the grocery store and the index doesn’t reflect prices at local Hy-Vee ($4.97 per dozen). We don’t use eggs much, so the price swings haven’t meant much to us, but understand how this would feel to people who eat eggs every day.
steve:
I think that century bonds are wishful thinking.
Kind of surpised you haven’t done anything on the attacks on individual law firms. No one likes it when they get challenged in court. It may be irritating that some law firms may provide free help to causes you dont like, but is it legal to attack them? Besides, just on pragmatic bases if successful it means the law firms you like bringing cases you support can have the next POTUS using the power of the federal govt to destroy them.
Dave- I think you said Project 2025 was wishful thinking. Could be wrong, but it’s happening.
Steve
I don’t believe I’ve ever commented on Project 2025. Why should I?
Are we nervous about being shut down?
I’m not nervous. I’ve been busy doing other things and most of what I’m seeing in the opinion pieces is partisan bickering. I don’t participate in that.
