Sheesh

For one stinking day can we not raise arguments—either for or against the Second Amendment to the Constitution—or against the war in Iraq? Let it rest for a day.

My heart goes out to those injured in the mass murder at Virginia Tech today and to their families and friends and the families and friends of those who have been killed.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon them.

That’s enough for today.

thanks for posting it, Dave but your typically insular American “indispensable nation” reaction made you miss his point and at the same time prove it.

  • There is a time and place for everything. Today is not the time.

If caring and compassion are insular, more insularity is called for.

  • I agree Dave, it’s sickening.

  • Agree, Dave. The bloggers I have read about this have all jumped to one conclusion or another, have used this massacre to attempt an end around and score a few gotcha, while parents are just learning that the lights of their lives have been snuffed out. It’s disgusting and something I don’t miss about the blogosphere.

The last 24 hours have been a blogbang of opinion porn. Good riddance to it all.

That’s what an unpopular war waged on lies will do, folks-animate and polarize and anger. Particularly if the ineptitude of the plotters’ conduct of the war matches their deceit.
