There’s an interesting post at 538 that points out that the most diverse cities are also the most segregated. Their examples are Chicago and Lincoln, Nebraska. As a city Chicago is very diverse. On a by neighborhood basis it’s very segregated. Lincoln, Nebraska is the opposite.
I consider my neighborhood pretty diverse. In this block alone there are two black families, two South Asian families, a Cambodian family, and two Hispanic families. One of the “white” families is a family of Polish immigrants. Another of Irish immigrants. In the house across the street from me the husband is Chicago Irish and the wife is Puerto Rican and Salvadoran.
