QAS at Easter, 2009

The altar at Queen of All Saints Basilica (our parish church) just before 8:00am Mass on Easter Sunday.

The music at Mass was really quite lovely and I’m a fairly tough critic. Ken Sotak, the music director at Queens does know how to put on a good show—choir, brass, timpani. At Offertory the choir and brass performed the Reginia Coeli from Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana, a truly magnificent piece of music. Also included were Gounod’s Sanctus from the St. Cecilia Mass, another piece I couldn’t identify, and several traditional hymns.
