He doesn’t seem to be calling for a poll tax, just a stake in society for those who vote. Then again, every voter is paying *some* taxes now; just not income taxes.
Unless we eliminate the standard deduction, we’re not going to have an income tax on all voters. We could, naturally, replace it with a consumption tax.
I wonder at what standard-deduction level collection costs exceed revenue. You hear from people who want everyone to pay “something” but good luck collecting from people behind on everything.
I’m not sure he did, but what if we conditioned voting on possessing minimally acceptable healthcare insurance? Constitutional?
