I’ve been doing a little research on the consequences of Chinese monetary and trade policies and have been very frustrated. Everything I’ve found is so narcissistic, even solipsistic, dealing with the effects of Chinese policy on the United States. Are there any good resources for considering the effects of Chinese policy on second or third tier economies like those of Mexico or Brazil?
You might want to look at Drezner’s site this week as he sounds like he will be discussing or debating the impact of China’s policy on other countries.

I saw Dan’s post last evening. I didn’t bother to make my comment, namely that the idea that China’s soft power is any threat to threat to the United States or, indeed, anyone other than the Chinese is absurd and suggests more than anything else that the authors of the book he was commenting on don’t know what the words “soft power” mean.
