More Site Maintenance

At this point I have upgraded the version of PHP to the current version. This site runs under WordPress and WordPress is written in PHP. I have no upgrade one of my plug-ins to the current version. It’s the plug-in that allows users to edit their comments so it’s relevant to a problem reported with entering comments.

FYI: Your favicon is not still working.

  • I’ll take a look at it. James’s shows up as does PD Shaw’s and Andy’s.

The edit function is useful for fixing HTML tags, but a preview function would work, as well. Without the edit function, it is like pen and paper. You have one shot at getting it right, and it forces me to write better.

I really liked the comments being dated. Without email notification, replying to an old comment would unlikely be unread.

I like an email notification feature, but I think the lack of one is the main reason the comments have not devolved into a cesspit.

The lack of a thumbs up/down is the second reason. To me, the thumbs down is a “mean girls” popularity feature. Having just the thumbs up is somewhat similar, but a dislike requires an actual reply. Other than “I hate you,” an actual reply requires some thought.

    Anyway, great blog.

The favicon issue is possibly on my end.

Presently, Windows wants to restart, Chrome wants to restart, NVidia wants to install and restart, Office wants to update and restart, and several utilities keep bugging me.

My machine is janky as hell. I need to strip it down, but I am too lazy.
