Microcosm

I have eight nieces and nephews, all in their twenties. Of them three are in college or post-graduate programs.

Of the remaining five all have college degrees from four year colleges and one has a post-graduate degree. I have no idea how much debt they or their families have incurred. I wouldn’t ask.

Of the five three are employed full-time and two are (if my understanding is correct) underemployed.

Educational attainment aside all of that sounds fairly typical, statistically, for their age cohort. Also not typical are that my nieces and nephews are all two to three standard deviations above normal in intelligence and are attractive and industrious.

There’s a funny thing that happens when capital is wildly mis-allocated. For some reason, that seems to lead to mis-allocation of other resources as well. I need to figure out if anyone has any good research on that, but I’ve seen it many times in companies and government organizations.
