Learning Things About My Parents

I’ve mentioned before that in going through all of my mother’s papers and effects I’ve learned some very interesting things about both of my parents. Here’s an example.

I did have a vague recollection of my dad taking a trip to Boston in 1953 but I never really understood the context. He attended the Diamond Jubilee meeting of the American Bar Association.

My dad loved travelling and I have little doubt that’s the real reason he made the trip. But the pretext was that there was a St. Louis attorney presenting a paper on bankruptcy at the meeting and in the paper he gave some things that my dad was doing as an example of practical approaches to dealing with bankruptcy proceedings and that other lawyers might want to emulate and he mentioned my dad by name.

At the left is the cover of the program (which I have). I also have a copy of the paper. Now they’ll be my keepsakes.
