Knowing No Fear

When I read the teaser headline of this article, “Millennials Have No Fear”, (which I didn’t find particularly interesting and isn’t otherwise relevant to this post) I was reminded of one of the old Grimms Märchen, “The Story of a Boy Who Went Forth to Learn Fear” also known as “The Boy Who Could Not Shudder” which you can read here. The moral, of course, is that there’s nothing like marriage to teach you the meaning of fear.

Whatever they think now the millennials will gain in experience and responsibility and their attitudes will change. How will they change? Beats me. I won’t be around to see it but I know it will happen.

Having children opens up vast new vistas in fear, too.

  • Caring leaves you vulnerable.

Caring for children not only makes you more vulnerable, but also less self-serving.
