How to Tell the Birds from the Flowers

I don’t think that Fred Barnes understands why New Jersey Sen. Corey Booker testifed against Trump AG nominee Sen. Jeff Sessions. From Mr. Barnes’s piece in the Weekly Standard:

Booker had nothing to say about Sessions’s personal and private views on race. He had no secrets about Sessions to reveal. His opposition turned out to be a disagreement over policy. A liberal, Booker objected to Sessions’s conservative views. For those eager to derail the Sessions nomination, this had to be a letdown. As soon as Booker finished his testimony, the air went out of the anti-Sessions balloon.

I don’t believe that Sen. Booker was attempting to derail Sessions’s nomination with his testimony. I think he was trying to burnish his credentials to be the next head of the Democratic National Committee. For that job a reputation, for example, for bipartisan cooperation is no credential.

In that he succeeded.

I believe Trump tweeted that Booker was engaged in pure self-promotion. I try to defer to the experts when I can.

The intent of these hearings is to deduce the worthiness of those nominated for various cabinet positions in the upcoming new administration. So, I think Barnes was addressing how such an intent fared in Booker’s diatribe.

The simplicity of Barnes piece, IMO, was less naive than a straight forward representation on how far off the mark Booker was in gleaning a credible, candid assessment of Sessions. Consequently, such cut and dried observations were intentional in an effort to highlight Booker’s self serving intent. And one wonders whether such a naked performance of ambition will burnish Booker’s reputation as a sincere, authentic politician, or one that will only belabor any future runs for higher office with a disheartening recollection reminding people of his core dishonesty.

Sessions is a creep. Booker said it. Now, whether or not Booker is engaged in self-promotion – and I know we would all be shocked to find a politician doing any such thing – he was speaking the truth about a nasty piece of work who will soon be in charge of this country’s law enforcement.

DNC is rather modest for a senator under the age of 50. I suspect the aim is a little bit higher…

Sessions is scrupulously honest man. That sends chills down the back of anyone with anything to hide, which most of us do.

President Obama gives some crimes a wink and a nod, legal residency, drugs, Sessions likely won’t do that.

The next step on that road is uprooting the Clintonistas who’re running the DNC now.

Bravo, lets go, the Clinton’s are not above the law.

It seems that anyone with a conservative POV, let along credentials that would implement such a philosophy in governmental matters, is considered a “creep,” in some people’s opinion. Such tolerance….!

BTW, there have been many raised eyebrows as to Cory Booker’s 180 degree reversal from the glowing sentiments given to honor Sessions less than a year ago. One moment Booker praises a man for his wonderful work related to the advancement of civil rights. Then, mere months later, he scorches the same individual with a loathsome commentary, pleading with people to block such a discredited human being from becoming AG.

DNC? Nah, I think he is eyeing POTUS.

+1,000,000 to PD. You win the internet today.
