Priorities being what they are in this household last night we watched the first night of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show rather than the president’s first formal press conference. So, how did it go?
FWIW the Scottish Deerhound won the Hounds group, the Scottish Terrier won the Terrier group, the Standard Poodle won the Non-sporting group, and the Puli won the Herding Group. Is that the first time a Puli has won group at Westminster? I think so.
I started watching the press conference 1/2 through and didn’t find it very interesting or informative. The only memorable moment for me was Helen Thomas making yet another weak effort to entrap a President on the question of Israel’s nukes.
Did anybody ask him why he thinks he has a mandate for this stimulas package put together by a very unpopular Congress after he won an election expressly stating that the economic crisis required no changes to his domestic agenda?
Or we all supposed to be grown ups about that?

Didn’t you get the memo? In Presidential politics it’s bad form to call the winner on any inconsistencies with anything that was said during the campaign.
