Foreign Policy Blogging at OTB

I’ve just published a foreign policy-related post at Outside the Beltway:

Joint Iraqi-Iranian Operations in Tikrit

There is a joint operation presently going on to retake the city of Tikrit from DAESH which includes the participation of the Iraqi army, elements of the Iranian military, and Shi’ite militiamen. We didn’t know anything about it (or at least claim not to have known anything about it) until it was already under way.

Not surprising. The question now is what do the Sunni countries do as pushback? Do they suddenly start supporting IS again? I kind of doubt it as I think IS is so bad it even scared them, but I think we should expect a response after/if IS is rooted out, especially if the militias behave like they have in the past.
