Father’s Day, 2023

Today is Father’s Day and I’m feeling a bit glum. My wife and I have no children and both our our fathers have been dead for many years (my father died more 50 years ago) so there’s not much celebrating here.

Our fathers are a frequent if not continuous presence for us. One or the other of us frequently quotes our fathers, tells a story about him, or offers another remembrance.

There’s a lot I wish I could tell my father. Seize the opportunity to celebrate your father while you may!

My dad and my husband’s dad are no longer with us too. And like you and your wife we keep them in our lives by talking about them, and being grateful for their earlier guidance and love. Added in today was our son calling and personally thanking my husband for being his dad. It was a sweet moment….

My and my wife’s Dad have passed. But I was adopted so my birth dad may still be alive. I’ve found my birth mom, but not my birth dad. Apparently he wasn’t a great person back when I was born, maybe things have changed.
