I know two studies that tracked the frequency and severity of several classes of natural disasters since 1900-ish. From memory, the classes were hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, wild fires and earthquakes. No statistically significant trend, up or down, was detected. Yet you will see it routinely stated as fact that hurricanes are getting worse. And of course the CA fires are cited right now as proof positive, despite easily discovered data to the contrary.
Most of the bogus studies rely on selective time frames, or on a dollar measure of destruction, which naturally rises.
