Writers are struggling for analogies for Kamala Harris from American history. In some sense she seems to be channeling Hubert Humphrey (an odd pick), the last Democrat to be thrust into Democratic frontrunner status after the sitting president removed his name from candidacy.
Here’s a comparison that may not have occurred to you: Gerald Ford. If she is elected president she, like Ford, will have done so without ever having won a vote in a primary. That’s a comparison I doubt the Harris campaign would like. Ford lost to Carter when he actually ran for re-election after becoming president when Nixon resigned.
Of course the difference is the fawning coverage she gets which allows her to avoid any scrutiny of her policies or abilities.
Another difference from Humphrey, is that he had the courage of his convictions despite a Happy Huey persona.
You guys are old. This is the new candidate of JOY. Reason is so last century.
Just LAUGH and DANCE!
And vote Blue!
Sure I’m cynical, some people need to learn reality the hard way.
She is getting a lot of coverage. It’s reminiscent of the non-stop coverage Trump got during the 2016 election.
Steve
She is getting a lot of fawning, bordering on slobbering, coverage. It’s not at all reminiscent of the non-stop negative coverage Trump got during the 2016 election.
There. Fixed it for you.
Trump is a puppet, a fake, and his cronies are dangerous.
The comparison I see is with Princess Diana, Celebrity, Royalty, seemingly rags to riches, (a stretch in both cases), dubious claims of great beauty, public opinion immune to any criticism of her having claim to the throne, emotions over reason.
Queens Elizabeth and Hillary are furious.
Think I liked it better when conservatives were arrogant a-holes instead of whiney victims. Probably a reflection of their leadership.
Steve
I also used to have more respect for Progressive Liberals when they stood up and told their own lies instead of using Candidates of Colour as foils.
The party in power wins the right to be arrogant a-holes.
The party out of power has to play the whiney victims.
It’s written into the bi-partisan bylaws.
(Just know what you are asking for)
