My comments appear to be operating again.
I don’t know what other sites are experiencing but for the last several weeks I’ve been getting an absolutely enormous amount of comment spam—a thousand or more per hour. If this keeps up I’m thinking of requiring registrations and login. What do you think?
You write on the best blogs around. You put enormous thought into it. You do it for free. So do whatever makes it easy for you. Regular readers will have no problem registering.
That was supposed to be “one of the” best blogs around. I’m typing in the dark. Probably not a good idea.
Install the Bad Behavior plugin for your blogging platform. It will block a large amount of the bot-driven attacks. Use the Askimet from the WP guys — it’s great too. I used to get tons of comment and trackback spam — now it’s caught by the combination of these two routines.
