You know what’s a grand way of celebrating Father’s Day? By shooting and killing a baker’s dozen fathers and potential fathers. As reported by the Chicago Tribune or tronc or whatever they’re calling themselves these days:
The city recorded its 300th homicide this weekend and went on to record six others over a 60-hour period that saw 56 people shot, 13 fatally, from Friday afternoon through early Monday morning.
So far this year, about 1,800 people have been shot across the city and more than 200 of those wounded have died of their wounds, according to records kept by the Chicago Tribune. A total of 306 people have been killed this year by shooting, stabbing or other means, Tribune records show.
The majority of these homicides have taken place in just eight South and West side neighborhoods. Three-quarters of the victims and their killers have been black. Ten men have been killed for each woman. There’s no ambiguity about the intention of the killers—a third of those killed were shot in the head, most of the rest in the chest.
If the present trend continues, we’ll have half again as many homicides in Chicago in 2016 as in 2015 which was half again as many as in 2014.
Somebody has to finish first? And on a per cap basis you’ll likely finish behind Orlando, fwiw.
Based on the FBI statistics Chicago’s homicide rate per 100K population was half again Orlando’s (in 2012, the last year for which they’ve published statistics).
Fear not. Philadelphia is right on the heals of Chicago in trying to destroy their city. Unchallenged and absolute Democratic policy and control for decades. Natch. Probably have robust gun laws as well.
Shootings in general have changed. Read a nice paper on trauma in the US. Shooting now almost always involve multiple hits on the person being shot. Lots more fun.

Was that Greater Orlando (MSA) or Orlando proper? I was referring to Orlando proper, which has about a quarter million people, and I meant this year, in which Orlando just had several massacres, although only the one with the straight white Christian man shooting up Teh Gays is getting any pub.
Naturally that would get national attention, but we’ve had several multiple homicides or attempted multiple homicides in recent weeks, and they get the ho-hum treatment locally. At least two in the last three days in my part of town. An 18 y/o and 16 y/o got shot dead around the corner from my best friend from high school’s old house on Friday, and three people were shot at a local motel last night. Of course, the vics last night dinseenuffin, so we can take a good guess as to what that was. No word on the gang affiliations, or lack thereof, of the two from Friday. But blink and you’ll miss the coverage.
Hell, we drove into something serious on the way home in rush hour, and it still hasn’t hit the news, despite the police walking into traffic with shotguns and 1000 yard stares, and multiple first responder vehicles coming out to cordon off the area. Gangstas doin’ gangsta shit and poppin’ caps in niggers asses doesn’t merit attention in The City Beautiful, where Love Conquers Hate. Personally I’d bet on superior fire power, but then I live in the hood, so I would, wouldn’t I?

We missed being in that by about five minutes. Just another fun day in the hood. There’s a shooting at least once a month at that intersection, and at least a few times a year someone gets killed there, but it usually happens late at night. Damn, that’s going to be hard to avoid in the evenings….
I saw a crazy man there last week. He was running into traffic to punch cars and trucks. Given that the traffic on Pine Hills Road goes about 50 mph along that part, it was some crazy stuff, but he was out of his mind on something.
Damn.
Around 9:30 there was a second drive by shooting from one vehicle to another at the intersection of Pine Hills Road and Indian Hills Road. That was with all the police vehicles just up the road, clearly visible, maybe a half mile away. Damn, the criminals are crazy and stupid to be pulling that shit that close to Sheriff’s deputies.
That intersection along with the one at Pine Hills & North Lane are two of the four points of egress from our neighborhood to anywhere else in the world. It’s getting so you can’t leave the house any more.
Speaking of no news coverage……
What if a candidate for president was subject of an assassination attempt, and no one in the media noticed? I know you will be shocked to learn it wasn’t Hillary Clinton.
Fair and balanced.
And what if the chap who was going to attempt the assassination was an illegal immigrant? Somehow the coverage has tended to avoid that detail.
My own view is that we have more than enough native born violent crazy people without importing more.
Chicago could try banning guns. It would surely have the same result as the drug bans.
As was stated some time back by @Drew, Black Votes Matter. Period. Poor black lives are worthless, and this includes the innocent children killed in gun battles between rival gangs. Hell, even Black Lives Matter cannot be bothered to find the time or energy to give a damn about the lives they claim are the reason for their existence.
What matters are white middle and upper income progressive voters with a few black ones included for diversity. They care about how they feel about black lives. “We Care About How Black Lives Make Us Feel” would be a better slogan, but this crowd does not allow reality to constrain their reasoning. (This is usually called fantasy.)
White Lives Matter, and when they are progressive, they matter even more. If the measures to protect the progressives white lives also protects black lives but if not, so be it. Any black man who believes that a white man will put the black man’s interests ahead of his own gets what he deserves.
Drew, if someone really took shots at Hillary would she even notice? She’s been under fire so many times before….
In Chicago as in the rest of the country black voters overwhelming vote for the status quo. I guess they’re voting for the devils they know.
Either that or they figure that if they do the same thing over again often enough they’ll get a different result.
