Catching my eye: morning A through Z

I’ve been somewhat neglectful of “Catching my eye” for the last few days. Here’s what’s caught my eye this morning:

  • AFOE has a very interesting post on a subject I’d never really considered: the outermost regions of the EU—the remnants of their once vast colonies.
  • As he slowly drives Highway 1 from his old home in Laguna to his new one in Seattle, Gerard Vanderleun of American Digest has left us something to chew on in the meantime. It’s the Best of American Digest, handily indexed for you. Vanderleun is one of the finest essayists in the blogosphere and this is a great opportunity to sample his work. Meanwhile he drives one of the most glorious drives in the world. Did I ever tell you about the time I was hit by a car on 1?
  • Armchair Generalist has a very sensible post in which he explains why a reorganization of FEMA or removing it from DHS won’t help much.
  • QandO Blog has had quite some number of good posts lately. Here’s one on Iran’s announcement of its willingness to share its nuclear technology with other Muslim nations. And I found this discussion of markets right on the money.

More later as time allows.

    Was that you? My bad.

Greetings from foggy Mendocino. The road goes on forever.
