Can’t Tell the Players

I’m losing track. Is Trump doing the bidding of Israel or is Israel under Trump’s thumb?

Just for the record I don’t care what two freshman Congressmen do or where they go as long as they don’t conduct foreign policy. Then I care. That would be a violation of the Logan Act for which they should be prosecuted. I’d just as soon that no sitting member of Congress travel outside the United States during his or her term of office.

Kindly note here that no one ever in the history of the Logan Act has ever been brought up on actual indictment and faced a Judge and Jury from that law. Since the year 1799. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logan_Act

  • I’m aware of that. The Act should either be enforced or repealed. Travel is a lot easier than it used to be and it used to be that it was very rare for Congressmen to travel abroad during their terms of office.

I don’t think that the Congress should have its own foreign policy or, worse, each member of Congress. I’m open to suggestions on controlling this.

It used to be that partisan politics ended at the water’s edge but, obviously, that’s no longer the case. Unfortunately, people in other countries don’t understand our system, continuous campaigns, or that members of Congress don’t speak for the United States.

Israel is our client state because so many Jews have dual citizenship.
Plus evangelical Christians are a huge voting block.

Trump does Israel’s bidding, big ticket stuff like cancel the Iran nuclear deal, and in return they either flatter him, naming stuff after him, or they help him with his election efforts, banning the squad. This is so obvious that I hope your question was just rhetorical.

In theory Israel should be our client state. In reality we seem to cater to their desires more than they do ours. Really, what was the last big, useful thing Israel did for the US that cost them anything in money, lives or political capital?
