I’d meant to mention that yesterday Will passed the first level of his therapy dog certification. I have no doubt that my wife’s expert handling had a lot to do with it.
That means he’ll be going to work more regularly with my wife to continue his training.
It’s a good thing since it takes a little pressure off Tally who, since Mira died, has been taking up the slack and doing double duty. She loves to work but it’s tiring and stressful and I think a little time off every now and again will be good for her and help to prolong her effective work life.
I know that Will’s littermate, Nola, will make a magnificent therapy dog but, just as with Tally before her, she’ll need a little more maturity and seasoning.
I’ve been reading about your family I’m sorry to hear that your dogs passed away. Your new dogs are beautiful and quite spunky looking!
I know that getting new pets doesn’t take away the hurt of losing your other pets but I hope it has lessoned the pain some.
That is wonderful to hear about Will passing his training to become a therapy dog. I will need to come back and find out more.
Dogs are therapy for many an ailment even broken hearts…
Way to go, Will! and Janice! Congratulations to both, with his lively warmth, and loving even-temperedness, and his ability to connect with people, Will is going to make a wonderful therapy dog and bring comfort and joy to lots of people who need him. Thanks for the post, Ann
