Among the Many Things

What’s wrong with this passage from Nicholas Kristof’s New York Times column?

We progressives believe in diversity, and we want women, blacks, Latinos, gays and Muslims at the table—er, so long as they’re not conservatives.

Universities are the bedrock of progressive values, but the one kind of diversity that universities disregard is ideological and religious.

I do not earn my living as a writer. I don’t receive a sou from this blog despite writing an average of a thousand words a day here. Nonetheless, I devote substantial effort to ensuring that I use good diction, formation, and proper spelling and punctuation. It may not show but I do.

Is it too much to ask that Mr. Kristof do the same? Or is it that his prejudices are showing?

Well, the things I hate are poor grammar.

But relax, you rarely see it among writers. I’ve told you a million times, ‘Don’t exaggerate.’

    Happy Mother’s Day everyone.
