A fall hike

This weekend one of my nieces took a break from college and visited us. She’s on the Illinois Wesleyan cross-country team and needed to run for 40 minutes on Saturday so we packed up the adult dogs and we all went up to one of the forest preserves in nearby Lake County so she could run while the rest of us took a little walk.

All of the dogs are wearing their vests and backpacks.  From left to right that’s Qila, Mira, and Tally.

This is one of Mira’s first pack hikes and she still needs to get used to the pack. Here she is with just the pad to her pack.

Every so often one of the packs may need a little adjustment.

But we all had a great deal of fun walking in the cool, crisp air of a beautiful fall day.
