Will and Nola’s Photo Shoot

Last week my wife took Will and Nola to a professional photographer who’s an acquaintance of ours for a little photo shoot. If you’d like to see the pictures you can go here.

If you’ve got any opinions on which are the best/the ones you like the most, leave your thoughts in the comments here. I kind of like JW7C4443 and JW7C4566.

  • Your photographer acquaintance did a nice job! It’s challenging to shoot white on white like that. Of course, it helps a LOT that Will and Nola are so gorgeous…!

    I liked:
4448 — great composition and pose.
4501 — for much the same reasons, plus the eyes slitted against the sun make for a slightly untamed expression.
4405 — don’t like the composition so much, but I love the contrasting red.

    :>

  • One of the things that you can see when you look at Samoyeds against snow is that they’re not actually white. They just look white—they’re actually sort of light tan or at least have a tannish undercoat.

  • Cuties! Both of ’em!!! Crop the leg / foot [snow boot] out of 4566 and it’s perfect… They’re both smiling, they’re eyes aren’t shut, and their tongues aren’t hanging out – not that there’s anything wrong with tongues hanging out – our Kids usually have their tongues hanging out, too, if they’re being photographed – must be a “stress” thing or something – but 4566 is just a great picture.

  • Thanks for commenting, BT in SA. I’ve also bookmarked your site and read through you archives. I gather that yours are either Rottweilers or Labs.

  • Good guesses, Dave. Our first Child was a Rottweiler; he passed away before we moved to Saudi. And just before we moved – not realizing at the time we were moving here – we adopted a very, very abused Great Dane puppy from the North Carolina Great Dane rescue league [it truly was pitiful, but The Boy has a fabulous family now with us and he is fine – well, fine as in he is no longer abused, he is healthy, very, very loved, etc. – he will always have some issues, I’m afraid]. And then a couple years ago, I decided that The Boy would just luv to have a little sister and we actually searched for and bought our first dog from a breeder – a Standard Poodle – The Baby. The Boy would have probably been quite happy to be an only child, but he gets along well with his little sister and The Baby absolutely adores her big brother. I had photos posted on my blog at one time, but for safety reasons, took them down. Dogs, as pets, or “Kids,” are not real popular in Saudi – mostly only the ex-pats have them – and with the only Great Dane and probably one of the only Standard Poodles in the Eastern Province, it wouldn’t have been too difficult to find out who I was and where I lived. I got some really, really nasty comments from one person and it made me uncomfortable and nervous. Pictures were immediately removed.

[People are probably quite unaware that dog-fighting is big in Middle Eastern countries – and they will fight any dog – not just specific breeds.]

Lastly, check back to Stilettos in the Sand in a few days. I’ve got a lengthy post almost done. And thanks for visiting!

  • I’d inferred as much. Note that I didn’t ask where your pictures were (although I admit I looked for them). When I didn’t find them I thought I understood the situation.

BTW I don’t know if you’re familiar with the blog, Crossroads Arabia. The proprietor there, John Burgess, is a retired U. S. diplomat who spent a good deal of his career in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He’s a good correspondent.
