Tired of the Horse Race

I don’t know about you but I’m pretty darned tired of the horse race aspect of the 2008 presidential campaign which hasn’t officially started yet. I think there are many more important things to consider in the two apparent candidates, Sens. McCain and Obama, than the horrible people who are endorsing them and the verbal gaffe of the day on which so many people seem to be fixated.

These are very different candidates with very different backgrounds, very different proposals, and very different views of the direction in which they’d like the country to move although they seem to agree that the country does need to move in some direction. I’d rather hear a lot more about this and a lot less of the other.

Contrary to many I think that each of these two senators are fine men, some of their proposals have merit, and I honestly wouldn’t be too distressed if either of them were to be elected president. I also think that they’re both completely daft in some respects, particularly in foreign policy. The only bleak solace that I can take in that is that we probably can’t take either of them particularly seriously in that regard.

  • Yeah, I gave up on the “horse race” a while ago. I’m basically trying to ignore it for another month or two.
