Oh they still do it. But only if it can be used against the R party.
And then there would be Mike Royko or similar to who show how it was a part of a pattern and be entertaining.
However, the business necessity of cranking 5-7 stories an eight hour day means no one has time for this kind of reporting instead rewriting press releases, regurging whatever they been fed by the various Ben Rhodes and click bait is what we get.
BTW, 12.5% rake off every time the money shifts would make old coal and iron baron happy.
