The Factors That Will Determine the 2016 Presidential Election

Larry Sabato identifies the factors that will determine the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. Here’s one of his remarks that may seem controversial but shouldn’t be:

A candidate who is largely average could flip a few percentage points of the national vote from the 2012 results, which is all it will take for the Republicans to win.

Here are the factors he points to:

  • the candidates
  • President Obama’s job approval
  • the state of the economy
  • foreign policy and terrorism
  • social issues
  • running mates
  • the dwindling number of swing states
  • scandal
  • America’s changing demographics
  • turnout

Read the whole thing. I think it should be obvious that the single most important factor in the upcoming election as in most elections will be turnout. The outcome of elections is determined by those who actually bother to cast votes.

Shouldn’t VOTER FRAUD be on this list? Shouldn’t VOTER REGISTRATION DIFFICULTIES be there as well?

We certainly hear the parties complain about these as major issues.
