The Watcher’s Council has announced its picks for the most outstanding posts of the preceding week. The winner in the Council post category was Done With Mirrors’s post, “Memorial Dayâ€, for which I voted. This is really a superb post. Second place honors went to my own submission this week, The Costs of Withdrawing from Iraq.
The winning non-Council post was US News and World Report’s, John McCain, Prisoner of War: A First-Person Account. This is John McCain’s own story of his captivity in North Viet Nam. Although I definitely think it’s worth reading, I didn’t vote for it because a) it’s not a blog post; and b) it’s a re-print. Second place honors went to The Brussels Journal’s “Why Spain Lectures Other Countries on Immigration, an interesting analysis of Spain’s immigration experience, policies, and politics.
