The Council Has Spoken!

The Watcher’s Council has announced its picks for the most outstanding posts of the preceding week. The winning Council post was Bookworm Room’s post, “The MSM’s Rush Limbaugh Horror Story”l. Tied for second place honors were Big Lizards’s “An Inconvenient Demographic Truth” and Soccer Dad’s “Walking Back the Cat x 2”, the post that got my vote.

The winning non-Council post was Michael Yon’s “Resistance Is Futile”. This post is a sort of anthology of what Michael’s been writing over the last year or so. Tied for second place honors were Daled Amos’s “The Niggers of Palestine” and Pakistan Policy Blog’s “The Massacre at Karsaz Bridge: Analysis of the Bhutto Blast (Part 2)”, the post I nominated and the one that got my vote. If you want background and insight into the security crisis in Pakistan, that’s the place to go.

The complete results are here.

And thanks for the PPB nomination. It told me a lot. When I saw the name Al-Huq, I wondered for a moment. But the next sentence confirmed what I suspected. The late Pres Zia’s son.

I don’t think that Zia was an Islamist, but I guess it’s possible that his son saw that as a route to political advancement. Zia was no democrat either, but then again neither was Benazir’s father, who, I believe was corrupt.

    It’s a pretty tangled web.
