It being April Fool’s Day and all I thought I might take a little break from providing recipes of my own or that I’ve used over the years to pointing you towards a collection of recipes and cooking-related links that are amusing, funny-sounding, jokes, or what have you.
- How to boil water
This is actually a serious tip but it does sound a bit funny, doesn’t it? - Has there ever been a more amusing cookbook than the wonderful M. F. K. Fisher’s How to Cook a Wolf? It’s basically a war-time book giving tips on making something out of nothing. If you’ve never read this great book, here’s a review for you.
- Here’s an evergreen (and completely edible even if it doesn’t look like it is): Kitty Litter Cake
- Jean-Paul Sartre’s Cooking Diary
- Here’s a collection of testicle recipes. Have a ball!
- A collection of medieval recipes. This is the recipe for ermine (if you’ve been looking for one):
Ermine. Hit schal beon ymad qwit & wel ysauoured of god poudre of gynger & quibibes & cloues, & þis mete schal beon perti wiþ vert desire.
That’s certainly how I’d prepare it.
- Here’s a link to a sight for marmite lovers
