From the NBC tracking poll the results of which are depicted in the graph above I infer the following:

  • Support for the two candidates is very close.
  • Most of the time it’s within the margin of error. In other words on those occasions, e.g. now, when the two candidates are at their closest, it’s actually possible that Trump is leading.
  • Hillary Clinton barely if ever cracks 50%.

We don’t elect candidates at large. It doesn’t matter whether Hillary Clinton wins California’s or New York’s electoral votes by getting the plurality of the popular vote or 100% of the popular vote. She’ll get the same number of electoral votes either way. The polls to watch to are those in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia, and a few other states and pay more attention after September than now.

Here’s what NBC News has to say:

Hillary Clinton’s lead over Donald Trump narrowed to 3 points this week after several days of controversy following FBI Director James Comey’s recommendation that no criminal charges be brought against the former secretary of state over her use of a private email server.

While the developments are certainly good news for the Clinton campaign, Comey’s critical statement on Clinton’s handling of the matter was not positive. Clinton’s lead over Trump has deteriorated in the past couple weeks since her lead peaked two weeks ago.

A strong majority of voters (82 percent) agreed that it was inappropriate for Clinton to use a personal email server during her tenure as secretary of state. A smaller majority — 56 percent — also said they disagreed with Comey’s recommendation that Clinton not be prosecuted for use of the server.

It’s still not too late for both parties to select candidates that are fit for office but it will be soon.

Hopefully Trump will select Gingrich, get elected and then set back and let newt run interference with congress. Best then that Trump keeps his mouth shut. (when pigs fly)

A few more Black Lives Matter riots and police assassinations, and you can start practicing saying “President Trump”.

Of course, anybody who thinks assassinating is never justified or understandable is a racist, but my peanut butter & jelly sandwich, 32oz. coffee mug, and contact lens drops are racist, also.

The odds on favorite is Pence for the VP pick. What an unsettling election year this has turned out to be. Nonetheless, whatever happens I just hope Hillary isn’t elected. Maureen Dowd, a very liberal columnist, had described the two Clinton’s (Bi!! & Hillary) in the truest terms, being “Moral Lepers.”. They taint everything they touch.

20% of Clinton supporters think she should have been prosecuted? Strange days.

Wearing my “George Washington For President” shirt today. Will hang around the Chicago Fire soccer camp this evening and see if I can get a movement started, or if people just shy away from me. Works for me either way.

  • Strange days.

And 30% of Democrats. I’m not alone.

“It’s still not too late for both parties to select candidates that are fit for office but it will be soon.”

That would require the parties to admit they were wrong and to ignore the result of the primaries. I think both of them would rather lose one election than do that.

It says something about the state of democracy that folks are ready to go back to the old days of elites pick a candidate instead of trusting the people to vote directly for their choice. Similar reasoning seen in the reaction to the Brexit vote and the 2008 gay marriage ballot proposition in California.

Well neither candidate thus far has been caught in bed with a live boy or a dead woman, so there’s that….
