I’ve begun reading Mr. Mead’s book and it is quite obvious from the start that he is quite the homer for the Anglo-American Establishment. It should be noted that Mr. Mead is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Mead would have you believe that this organization is just a friendly gentlemens club with a scholarly bent. I have heard him say as much on the Hugh Hewitt radio program. What he doesn’t tell you is that it was begun as the American chapter of the Royal Institute of International Affairs back in the early 1920’s–a group that got its funding from the Rhodes clique. And that a high percentage of every administration since WWII have been CFR members. So he is disingenuous when he says that the CFR does not have any significant impact on America’s Foreign Policy. In fact, he can be considered part of America’s Foreign Policy Establishment because of his good standing at the CFR. This lends to a credibility issue.

He is also anti-Spain. Just look at his classification of the Spanish Empire as “evil”. This would make one think that he is also anti-Catholic. But I will leave it to shrewd readers to make their own minds up on that issue. Maybe with a keener awareness of Mr. Meads background we can understand his agenda a little better and with a more critical eye than he would have of us.
