Defense Ain’t the Only Thing

You pretty frequently encounter the observation that the U. S. spends more on its military than any other country in the world. What you don’t see mentioned very often is that the United States spends more on health care than all other countries combined and that it spend more on housing than all other countries combined.

Indeed, in the United States government at all levels spends more on health care than the United Kingdom, France, and Germany combined.

The government’s purpose is to spend money, not to execute the Preamble which the Framers naively thought would be the guiding philosophy of governance. And it’s that way because the owners of this country want it that way.

It’s worse than that. The US military spends $45 billion a year on health care. The VA spends another $75 billion on veteran health care.

Russia, the #3 country in terms of defense spending, spends $85 for its entire defense budget.
